They are seeking a Plastics Engineer to join their dynamic engineering team.【 Responsibilities 】1. Product Design & Development- Design and optimize plastic components with consideration for manufacturability, performance, and cost-effectiveness- Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles to ensure efficient and robust production- Review and interpret 3D CAD models and 2D engineering drawings2. Tooling Design & Optimization- Collaborate with toolmakers and suppliers to design, define, and procure injection molds- Review and approve mold designs to ensure compliance with specifications, quality standards, and production requirements- Lead the development and procurement of prototype tooling for early-stage validation- Drive improvements to existing tooling to enhance performance, durability, and cycle time efficiency3. Injection Molding Process Development & Optimization- Set up, operate, and troubleshoot injection molding machines to achieve optimal quality and efficiency- Develop and optimize molding parameters (temperature, pressure, cycle time, etc.) for various plastic materials- Conduct root cause analysis for molding defects and implement corrective actions- Perform process validation and qualification activities4. Mold Flow Analysis- Utilize simulation tools (e.g., Moldflow, SolidWorks Plastics) to analyze material flow, cooling, warpage, and other molding behaviors- Interpret simulation results to support design and tooling decisions and prevent potential issues5. Supplier Management- Manage external injection molding suppliers to ensure quality, cost, and delivery performance- Conduct supplier audits and capability assessments- Act as the primary technical liaison to resolve production and quality issues- Drive continuous improvement initiatives with suppliers6. Material Selection & Engineering- Evaluate and recommend suitable plastic resins and compounds based on product requirements, performance, environmental, and cost considerations- Understand and apply knowledge of thermoplastic and thermoset materials and their processing characteristics- Conduct material testing and validation to ensure suitability for applications7. Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement- Develop and implement quality control plans for plastic components- Participate in FMEA and other quality improvement initiatives- Identify opportunities for process optimization, waste reduction, and cost savings8. Technical Support & Collaboration- Provide technical support to manufacturing, quality, and sales teams- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and customers- Mentor junior engineers and technicians in plastics engineering principles
