Firms that have concrete plans for workforce transformation will be able to take advantage of a $70 million grant to improve productivity, upskill workers, and redesign jobs, as reported by The Straits Times. The $70 million grant will provide NTUC with more resources to work with companies with company training committees (CTC) and co-fund their proposals for workplace transformation. CTC’s job is to review the current training plans, identify skills gaps and plan for reskilling and career

Progression for employees and develop and roll out new training initiatives. As part of the Budget 2022, $100 million is set aside to scale up efforts to help companies implement concrete training and transformation programmes– thus the remaining $30 million will be used to expand NTUC’s team of industry training officers and enlarge its network of CTCs.

"Depending on their requirements, NTUC can help CTC companies... improve workplace safety and health to promote the physical and mental well-being of workers, provide training to existing workers and new entrants, and match job seekers to companies that are growing and expanding their workforce," said the deputy secretary-general of NTUC Chee Hong Tat.

TUC has also set up the Tourism Careers Hub to provide customised training courses and facilitate the placement of workers within the industry, with plans to set up tripartite academies in other sectors such as advanced manufacturing, retail, logistics, healthcare, maritime, and security.
