  • Job Description

    Our client, a reputable international ship-owning company. They manage, own, and operate a global fleet of dry cargo vessels, chemical tankers, and woodchip carriers.

    They are seeking a highly motivated and commercially driven Senior Manager to support the growth of the Energy Division across Singapore and the Asia/Oceania region. The candidate must be an enthusiastic, proactive, and motivated individual with real passion for the above segments, and possess experience in the shipping business, such as owning, managing, chartering, and operating vessels. This role will focus on business development, stakeholder management, project execution, and regional coordination within the energy and shipping sectors.

    The candidate is also responsible for ensuring that the daily business activities are in compliance with the Group company and business policies. Although it depends on the specific scope of work, he/she reports to the Director/General Manager/Deputy General Manager. He/she must ensure timely and accurate responses to customers' requests and liaise with each stakeholder (internal/external) for smooth coordination for all transactions.

    【 Responsibilities 】
    - Drive business development activities and expand commercial opportunities for the Energy Division across Singapore and the Asia/Oceania region.
    - Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients, business partners, and key stakeholders while actively developing new customer networks.
    - Represent the company's Energy Division in commercial discussions, negotiations, and regional business engagements.
    - Lead and coordinate regional projects related to shipping and energy businesses, including commercial operations, project execution, and stakeholder management.
    - Collaborate closely with internal departments and overseas offices to ensure smooth execution of existing business operations and new initiatives.
    - Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to regional teams and local staff across Asia/Oceania to foster collaboration and achieve business objectives.
    - Monitor and analyze developments in energy markets, industry trends, and government policies within the Asia/Oceania region, and provide regular reports and strategic insights to management and Tokyo HQ.
    - Support management in strategic planning, business expansion initiatives, and operational improvements.
    - Undertake additional responsibilities and ad hoc assignments as required by the business.

Qualifications

    【 Requirements & Preferences 】

    (Must)
    - Bachelor’s Degree in Maritime Studies, Shipping, Logistics, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline.
    - Minimum 7 years of relevant managerial experience in the maritime, shipping (bulk shipping, tanker operations, LNG shipping), or energy-related maritime transport industry
    - At least 7 years of strong hands-on experience in vessel ownership, ship management, chartering, and/or vessel operations, ideally within tanker, LNG, LPG, or dry bulk segments linked to energy commodities (e.g. crude oil, refined products, gas, coal).
    - Proven experience in project management, including leading or supporting cross-functional and regional projects, ideally within Asia/Oceania
    - Basic knowledge of accounting principles, ship financing structures, and cash flow analysis.
    - Strong stakeholder management, communication, and negotiation skills with the ability to work effectively across cultures and regions.
    - Willingness to travel within the Asia/Oceania region when required (might be required to travel on weekends)
    - Strong understanding of the global energy shipping value chain, including how cargo flows are structured between traders, shipowners, operators, and end users.

    (Advantageous)
    - Prior involvement in regional or multi-country shipping operations across Asia/Oceania is preferred.
    - Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage shipowners, charterers, trading houses, energy companies, and internal HQ stakeholders (e.g. Tokyo HQ).
    - Experience in project-based shipping or complex energy logistics projects (e.g. long-term COA contracts, energy infrastructure-related shipping, offshore or industrial projects) will be highly advantageous.
