    Our Client is a Japanese Company crude oil and gas trading company in Singapore that focuses on the sale of crude oil and natural gas. The Chartering Executive is responsible for ensuring the timely and cost-efficient shipment of crude oil, condensate, and LPG cargoes by securing suitable vessels through spot and COA (Contract of Affreightment) chartering. The role requires strong negotiation skills, market intelligence, and stakeholder engagement to support the company's commercial strategies and operational reliability.

    Reporting to the Head of Operations & Chartering.

    【 Responsibilities 】
    Chartering & Freight Optimization
    - Secure competitive vessel arrangements via spot and COA chartering for crude oil, condensate, and LPG cargoes.
    - Negotiate existing COAs and identify new COA opportunities to enhance cost efficiency and reliability.
    - Evaluate and recommend time charter options in line with commercial goals.
    - Propose and implement strategies to increase profitability, including improved scheduling and vessel allocation.

    Market Intelligence & Advisory
    - Monitor freight market trends, rates, and global vessel movements.
    - Provide timely and insightful freight market updates to support traders’ sales decisions.
    - Analyze shipping economics to propose innovative chartering solutions.

    Planning & Coordination
    - Develop optimal vessel allocation plans considering freight trends, seasonality, and vessel availability.
    - Work closely with Operators to ensure alignment between cargo programs and vessel schedules.
    - Oversee pre-loading vetting, port restrictions, and proactively flag any potential issues.

    Stakeholder Engagement
    - Build and maintain strong relationships with shipowners, brokers, and terminal operators to ensure access to competitive and reliable chartering options.
    - Represent IETS in industry events to strengthen market presence and networking.

    Internal Collaboration
    - Collaborate with Trading, LNG, Operations, Finance, Middle Office, and HQ teams to align chartering strategies with business goals.
    - Attend meetings with internal and external stakeholders including buyers, sellers, shipping partners, and JV partners.

    Reporting & Administration
    - Maintain accurate chartering records and update internal databases.
    - Support ad hoc assignments and projects as required.

Qualifications

  • Requirement

    【 Requirements & Preferences 】

    (Must)
    - Bachelor's Degree in Maritime Studies, Business, Commerce, Laws, or any related field
    - Possessing at least 5 years of tanker/VLGC chartering or freight desk experience in an oil & gas trading or shipping company
    - Good understanding of the various charter parties, commercial contracts, laytime and demurrage provisions and the terminology associated with the petroleum industry.
    - Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications and IT-savvy to be able to use other software/platform required for trading & operations
    - Knowledge in Maritime law and Upstream contracts
    - Experience in Tanker or VLGC Chartering is a must
