Accelerate HR 2023: A Summary

Reeracoen is a proud sponsor of Accelerate HR 2023, an event organised by Human Resources Online! This prominent HR event involving more than 200 CHROs and key HR personnel was held from 21 to 22 March 2023, at Grand Copthorne Waterfront. It’s the first time Accelerate HR has been held in person—the 2020 and 2021 events were virtual conferences due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The pandemic has ushered in new work norms, the most significant being the rise of hybrid work and the resultant erosion of quality work relationships. CHROs and HR leaders are faced with the challenge to adapt to ever-evolving workplace needs. As such, the theme of this year’s Accelerate HR was truly fitting: “Decoding the New Rules of Work”.

Accelerate HR 2023 brought more than 200 CHROs and HR leaders together to explore the future of work. Over 30 deep-dive sessions were conducted; there were not only future-forward keynotes and interactive panels but also informative case study-driven breakout sessions and intimate fireside chats. We’re pleased that our sponsorship could facilitate this gathering of CHROs and HR leaders—and provide them a safe space to freely share the difficulties they face in this post-Covid world.

We’re also very glad to be one of the exhibitors at Accelerate HR 2023. Alongside Tripartite Alliance for Fair and Progressive Employment Practices (TAFEP) and other brand names such as Boston Consulting Group and ThinkCodex, Reeracoen set up an exhibition booth to showcase our professional recruitment services. The exhibition booth was a great way to reach out to the community; we’re thankful for the valuable partnerships forged during Accelerate HR 2023.

Key Learnings from Accelerate HR 2023

At the end of this two-day conference, the CHROs and HR leaders left with a deeper understanding of the megatrends which profoundly changed people management practices. Together, we reimagined why, where and how work gets done—in order to meet the demands of the future.

Aside from the plenary sessions held in the mornings, there were different spheres of focus in the afternoons. “Culture and change management” and “Employee and workplace experience” were covered on Day 1; “HR tech and people analytics” and “Belong, inclusion and collaboration” were covered on Day 2. Here are 3 key learnings from the event:

1. Build trust and cooperation through the development of new behaviours within your company: Some of these trust-building behaviours include giving your employees some measure of freedom and not micromanaging them. Focus on deliverables instead. Furthermore, ensure a fair and transparent promotion process by being clear on the key performance indicators (KPIs) your employees would need to achieve to be promoted.

2. Streamline meetings during hybrid work: If your employees have given feedback that meetings often overrun and are not efficient uses of their time, tackle this issue head-on. Beyond intentionally keeping the meeting time short, mandate that there should be a notice of meeting minimally 48 hours before the scheduled time. Refrain from having meetings on Monday mornings as well, so that your employees will have an undisturbed block of time to plan their week effectively.

3. Adopt a data-driven mindset: As data is the new currency of business, your HR department should learn to be fluent in data. Empower your employees, particularly managers, to be comfortable asking data-related questions. You can empower them by providing the right software tools to analyse large datasets.
